My studies are extensive in electronics and I am a bachelor of Science & Engineering. Since the invent of the 'ol Atari & TRS80 computers, I knew that I was going to be involved in the biggest new communications medium the world has ever seen. Some of my early days in 'modem-land' gave me the oportunity to share with others my views and ideas on the "Atari Outpost" which; was a free news and info (fido) section breaking ground as a science and technical journal in 1980. 1982 was the peek for Atari and Commodore; I had (and still do) every game cartidge, adapter, diskdrive, joystick, and even printer for each line of those PCs. When IBM announced their new look for typewriters and PCs, I had curious doubts that it could do what other "Home Computers" were doing at that time. No matter what they said, I had to explore the possibilities for this new machine, and in 1988, I finally got the money to by my first IBM. There was no trade or technical school opportunities at that time for all the knowledge I was getting by just doing it from home. My talents and skills learned beacame characterized as a "hacker" whenever someone seen what I could do on a computer. In 1992 I seen the need for multimedia software titles in the public download sites for IBMs accross the world, and started working on the development of a multimedia title that would help answer the questions about Las Vegas. There was alot of material to be compiled and it nearly took me 4-1/2 years to convince the Hotels & Casinos that "multimedia" and the "net" is the next best thing to a magazine. My completion of the project came when I was hired by the local Community College as a Technical & Teaching Assistant in the new campus's Computer Lab. I loved working with the Community College of Southern Nevada in 1996. The people I helped were good students; some mostly had difficulties learning at the teacher's speed because of their lack of English , or they were just a bit confused by all the new equipment surrounding them. Much of the time I spent teaching was fun & rewarding. I took every chance I had to getting the most of it all. Time-off in the Lab was used researching some of my projects, and developing student packages to help my "frequents" be more involved and productive in the courses they studied, plus it gave me the opportunity to compile that multimedia title I have been working on for so long. Since 1997 I have been working as a freelance producer and developer, and sometimes I get a calling for repairs and re-programming of a PC or Laptop by a desperate user trying to access the Internet. I don't charge much, and feel that if I can help make the things everyone needs to do business easier, I can be rewarded even more down the road. My plans for Interactive Education and Science Discovery is just around the corner, and I hope to be a part of the new generation of teachers & educators coming to a modem near you. Interactivity is a very important role of learning experiences, and it must be visible in all areas of "life training" as well as, general education. I beleive that if the current public schooling system is not 'upgraded' or at least changed for the security of the students and people involved, there will be violence beyond the understanding of entire communities. If the future of the web allows parents to teach and educate their children from home, and is a prime medium for avenues of willing teachers and educators, the home may just be the safest place for young minds to learn and study from. Parents and working citizens need to be aware of the possible influences we face when the public school systems start to fail, and young people are 'dying' to get an education. The Internet may be the next schooling environment. If you are a current student in the Las Vegas area, and have need for tutor asistance; just Email me with your current study or subject, and I promise to guide you to the best trail for help, or if you can help make my time profitable; I will personally show you how it all works and what you can do to make it better. |
